Homebuilder incentives were commonplace in the housing market in the months following the market crash, but how common are they now?

In the months following the housing crash, homebuilders across the country were presented with a most unique of circumstances – thousands of newly built, unsold homes…and nobody in sight to buy them.

As a result, “homebuilder incentives” became a key addition to the homebuying lexicon, with homebuilders offering a number of perks and benefits to interest consumers in new construction.

The market has come a long way since then, however, and two valuable questions remain: what does the incentive marketplace now look like? And are incentives still commonplace in the housing market?
