Carla Carlson-Wallace

Carla Carlson-Wallace

What was your first job in the realty industry? Started out as a leasing agent in multi-family. I was nervous at first until I found I had a knack for people. Someone once told me I could sell ice to Eskimos.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I Twitter. Love social media and all if has to offer. I start tweeting late at night when the house is quiet. A good glass of wine tops it off.

Where did you grow up? Houston – 100 percent native Houstonian.

Growing up, what did you want to be? I wanted to be a veterinarian. I love all animals and helping the needy is a passion for me. Animals need a voice to speak for them. I once had a dozen dogs in my backyard. I picked up stray dogs because I could not stand to see them suffer.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Ronald Reagan. He had a vision and was always positive about getting things done! He loved life. He was happy!

Where is your favorite place to hang out? At home entertaining friends and family. My husband enjoys cooking. We do a lot of crawfish when in season and Texas BBQ all year long. Food always brings people together!

What do you love most about the industry? The diversity amoung people and their needs. Everyone has a story and I’m proud to be a part of it. You meet many different people from all over the world.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? My happy and positive attitude. People tend to lean towards a person who is happy and loving. I’ve never met a stranger in my life. I treat people in the manner I would like to be treated. I like for people to feel very comfortable around me.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Being able to shut down at night and spend quality time with my family. I keep a sticky note pad by my bed for those “in the middle of the night” thoughts.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Love to network in my community. I have a lot of friends through the mulit-family side of real estate. Facebook and Twitter are great ways to connect with people, as well.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Living my life the way I had always hoped to. I’m married to a wonderful man, and I have been blessed with a loving family. I love what I do. I’m living the American Dream!

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? American Sniper.

What is your favorite restaurant? Papasitos Mexican Resturant. I could eat there every day!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston? Anunciation Catholic Church located in downtown Houston. It was built in the late 1880s, still in use and considered to be an historic building. It’s a very beautiful structure.
