Agent Snapshot: Karen Kimbro, Associate Broker, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene, Houston

Karen Kimbro

Karen Kimbro

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was a secretary for a real estate company in Cherry Hill, N.J.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Meditation and yoga. Also, long walks while listening to music.

Where did you grow up? New Jersey.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A singer/songwriter and an actress.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Warren Buffett, because I would like to pick his brain!

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My house with family and friends.

What do you love most about the industry? The challenges that it brings, and the satisfaction of conquering them.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I treat my clients the way I would want to be treated. I give my full attention to my clients no matter the price range or if they are buying, selling or renting.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? When a seller or buyer wants me to cut my commission or give them part of my commission. I know that when they go to work that they are not asked to give up part of their pay check or to give part of it back to their company. It costs money for Realtors to market themselves and their clients property, and Realtors don’t have set hours. We don’t know what TGIF means!

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Networking clubs and social events.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Being in the real estate business for 26 years and loving what I do for a living.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Black or White.

What is your favorite restaurant? Perry’s.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston? Williams Tower.

What kind of car do you drive? 2015 Lexus.

Smartphone or paper? Both.

What is your favorite city after Houston? San Francisco.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Like life, real estate is like a box of chocolates. I believe everyone knows the end of that statement.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? HAR.com.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Family, friends, positive and uplifting sites, and real estate.
