I'm somewhat horrified to have come across this article in my Internet search. I am not a realtor, but I am a current resident of Houston who has been searching for a home for several months now. My husband and I have unfortunately experienced this UNETHICAL sales tactic first hand and were truly appalled to find real estate agents intentionally manipulating innocent buyers. This tactic intentionally draws in consumers that are looking to spend within a certain price range and then relies on emotions to manipulate them to bid above asking price above what they were planning to spend and often also above what the house would be even be appraised for. I will be sharing this article with all of my friends and family in the Houston area to make sure that they do not buy into this manipulative and unethical sales tactic. It is shameful to see so called "reputable" agents taking part in this type of manipulation.
