Houston’s Top 25 Most Affordable Neighborhoods

Houston’s market is on the rise, but affordable homes are still abound.

In 2004, before the nation’s housing market fell into dire straits, Houston home prices averaged at about $175,000. However, according to the Houston Association of Realtors and the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, over the last decade, that average has skyrocketed 50 percent to nearly $270,000.

Houston has become one of the nation’s most active and promising markets, with energy and technology investments driving development. And while a surge of eager buyers have helped elevate home prices, affordable homes are still widely available in the area.
