Oxberry Group is planning to build a condominium in former place of The John C. Freeman Weather Museum. The museum relocated in 2o14. The condo will be called the Mondrain and is expected to be eight stories high and have 20 units. Condos are expected to have one- and two-floor options, with an average of 3,000 square feet.

The Mondrian’s interior will be designed by Mayfield and Ragni Studio. The condo will feature large entertaining areas, art walls, built-in storage, dual vanities, walk-in showers and separate soaking tubs, full-size laundry rooms, 24-hour concierge service, valet doors for package and dry cleaning delivery, and outdoor terraces that can accommodate fireplaces, TVs and outdoor kitchens.

Shahin “Sean” Jamea, co-principal of Oxberry Group said in a statement, “we felt an obligation to our immediate neighbors, including the Asia Society, to respect and honor the architectural bar they have established in this pocket of the Museum District.” She continued, “our goal for this special site is the creation of a landmark that makes the community proud, and a place that we would be proud to call home.”

The plans for The Mondrian were released by the city of Houston planning commission on Aug. 20. The museum will be demolished once contracts are finalized. Rates for the units are not currently available.
