Guaranteed Rate names Shirley Mueller as VP of Veteran Lending

Retail mortgage lender Guaranteed Rate has named Shirley Mueller as a vice president of Veteran Lending, specializing in VA loans.

Mueller, who is based out of Austin, joins the Guaranteed Rate team with more than 13 years of experience in the mortgage industry.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Shirley to the Guaranteed Rate team,” said Pat Bolan, divisional manager for Guaranteed Rate’s south-central division. “Her extensive experience working with the veteran community in Texas will greatly strengthen our presence in the region and will enable us to develop more meaningful relationships with Veterans and business partners throughout the state.”

In recognition of her dedication to serving Texas veterans, Mueller was named one of the best military lenders and originators by National Mortgage Professional in 2018.

NAGLREP opens Houston chapter

 The National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals recently welcomed a new chapter in Houston.

One of the nation’s largest and most recognized LGBT+ trade organizations, NAGLREP boasts more than 2,600 members with 39 chapters in 21 states and the District of Columbia.

Each of the chapters will conduct three “Lunch & Learns” throughout 2020, including programming during Pride Month and a variety of other networking opportunities.

 In addition, through an agreement with PFLAG, the chapters will work closely with the organization’s chapters to showcase the emotional and financial benefits of homeownership to local LGBT community and raise awareness for the Equality Act. While the Equality Act is not expected to pass in the Senate during the election year, NAGLREP says it remains critical for them to join with the Human Rights Campaign, the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce and PFLAG to ensure their voice is heard so the LGBT population can ultimately gain federal protections against housing discrimination. LGBT homeownership rates are currently at 49 percent
