Master-planned community Jubilee aims to ‘spark happiness’ in residents

by Lindsey Wells

A new northwest Houston master-planned community by Johnson Development Corp. will focus on sparking joy and eliciting positivity in its homeowners, according to a press release.

Aptly named Jubilee, the 1,620-acre Hockley development will aim to improve its homeowners’ physical, emotional and mental well-being.

“We want to raise the bar for how a community can better the lives of the individuals that live in it,” said Larry Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson Development. “Every aspect of this new community is being intentionally designed to promote positivity, allowing residents to decompress from the everyday grind and connect with nature and each other.”

The development team is approaching Jubilee’s real estate design holistically, targeting everything from the street layout, park placement and amenity architecture.

“Jubilee has multiple positive interpretations,” said Trey Reichert, the community’s general manager. “It represents joy, is energetic and has nuances of community. These concepts will be well represented in the mindful spaces we are designing for residents. Connection with others is proven to enhance a person’s well-being, and Jubilee will be all about helping residents feel happy and healthy.”

While Jubilee’s planning began well before the pandemic, its vision is particularly impactful now, Reichert said in the release.

“The pandemic has turned our focus to health and has shown us just how important where you live can be,” he said. “Imagine living in a home that has all the room you need in a community specifically designed to elicit peace and harmony. It’s something we can all use right now.”

Jubilee, acquired by Johnson Development in 2017, is the homebuilder’s 19th active real estate community and the first in the northwest Houston housing market.

Plans include sites for approximately 4,800 new single-family homes. Pre-sales for potential homebuyers are expected to begin in early 2023.
