Johnson Development announced that 125 homes in its Jubilee master-planned community in Hockley earned the WELL Residence certification from the International Well Building Institute — the first homes in Texas to do so.
The community became the first in the state to adopt the program back in October 2023 when it committed to including WELL strategies for Jubilee homes.
“This WELL certification means that homes aren’t just built — they’re built to promote health with cleaner air and water, safer materials, better light, less noise and increased comfort,” June Tang, vice president and general manager of Jubilee, said in a press release. “This important third-party verification further validates our community focus on wellness.”
In order to receive WELL certification, Jubilee builders — Chesmar Homes, Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, J. Patrick Homes, Tri Pointe Homes and Westin Homes — needed to include at least 40 of IWBI’s 100-plus health-related strategies. A number of these strategies were implemented across all homes in the community, including reverse-osmosis filtration systems, fresh-air intakes and MERV 12 media filters, circadian rhythm lighting and centralized smart-home automation.
Tang added that all Jubilee homes achieved an Indoor AirPlus rating from the Environmental Protection Agency.
“It is our vision that Jubilee sparks joy for residents when they come home,” Tang said. “We want home to be their happy place. And with happiness comes a host of health benefits.”
Johnson Development ultimately aims for all Jubilee homes to earn the WELL Residence seal.
