The Hempstead Chamber of Commerce will be holding their 24th Annual Watermelon Festival from Thursday, July 18 to Saturday, July 20 at the City Hall.
The three-day festival will include many events, starting with a carnival on Thursday, July 18 at 5:00. A BBQ cook-off will be held on Friday, July 19 and will be followed by a street dance. The festival will end with many family-friendly events on Saturday, July 20, starting with a parade at 9:00 a.m. It will be followed by a BBQ cook-off, Queens Coronation, quilt show, car and tractor show, carnival, watermelon auction, food & vendor booths, games and a street dance.
There will also be a watermelon-eating contest, seed-spitting contest, watermelon games, and home grown watermelon contest where awards will be given to the largest, prettiest, ugliest, and smallest edible with first and second places in each category.
The entertainment includes the groups Earlywine Band, Rosehill, the Texas Unlimited Band and more.
