Over 170 homes from the Houston Housing Authority’s “scattered sites” program of the 1980s will be up for auction next month.
The properties were intended for poor and low-income families, but almost half were left unsold or in serious disrepair due to problems with the housing program, according to the Houston Chronicle. The 171 homes and three lots will go to auction Nov. 12.
The auction will be held at Houston’s Marriott Westchase Hotel in three sessions: an absolute auction for the general public at 10 a.m., a nonprofit-only auction at 1 p.m., and another absolute auction for the general public at 2 p.m.
Onsite registration will begin at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is available online. For more information about the auction, visit www.natresauctions.com/HHA.
