Karen Fahrmeier is no stranger to hard work. “I’m a worker bee!” she laughs when describing her approach to the real estate career she has enjoyed for nearly 20 years. “Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with thoughts that I can’t wait to share with my clients, so it’s not uncommon to receive an e-mail from me at 3AM!” she explains. A longtime Kingwood resident, Fahrmeier ascribes her dedication to an unwavering passion for the industry and commitment to excellence. These are attributes that she has instilled in daughter Megan, who joined her in January to form The Fahrmeier Team. As the younger Fahrmeier, a 2014 broadcast journalism and English literature graduate of the University of Mississippi, puts it, “My mom is definitely my greatest inspiration and the hardest working person I know. I want to be just as great as she’s been in the business so that I can carry on the family name in this wonderful industry!”

While her mother’s career path might seem unconventional, it nonetheless afforded the kind of real-world experience that has spurred the veteran Realtor’s success. It started when she began looking for a home after her family had outgrown its house after 10 years. Fahrmeier enjoyed the six-month quest so much that she began helping friends conduct their search. Her Realtor was struck by her vivid recollection of the properties she toured and encouraged her to pursue her license, which she earned in one month. As she describes it, “I hit the ground running in 1998!” In fact, she took Keller William Realty Northeast’s Rookie of the Year award and has been honored as either its Number 1 agent or team each of the last 15 years in her 16-year career.

In addition to her phenomenal streak as her agency’s leading agent, Fahrmeier has ranked among the Top 10 Keller Williams Realty professionals in the region for 15 years. Kingwood’s large contingency of business executives means that many find it necessary to move when their career requires relocation, so she is particularly skilled in working with motivated sellers. Furthermore, her own experience in home remodels and ability to spot imperfections like foundational cracks and water stains helps when it comes to readying a home for sale. Fahrmeier also enjoys collaborating with buyers and applies this same insight when showing them properties.

Her daughter, an active volunteer with the Society of St. Stephens, says that her own clientele primarily consists of buyers and individuals who prefer to lease a home. “What I really love about the business is that I get to help families begin a new journey in a new home where they’ll create lifelong memories,” she explains. “I want them to enjoy as stress-free a transaction as possible because otherwise the memories they have of their new home will be tainted by the experience.” In her opinion, doing her best to make certain clients never settle for less than they want is critical. That strategy has proven successful; she and her mother have already racked up numerous honors this year, including their brokerage’s sales team of the month several times and highest dollar amount closed. In fact, this newcomer to real estate sold her first home on her 23rd birthday for what she calls “the best birthday present I could have asked for!”

“I’m ecstatic to have joined my mom in the world of real estate, and what I’ve enjoyed most is learning from her; I couldn’t have asked her a better mentor!” the new Realtor expresses. Like her daughter, her mother also credits her mother as her inspiration. A Nicholls State University graduate, the industry expert believes in giving back to her community and has participated in a “Dancing with the Stars” event to raise money for the YMCA as well as tripped the light fantastic for “Dancers Kickin Cancer.” But her greatest joy, she says, is her family, and she is thrilled that her daughter is now her partner. “I’m so excited to share my knowledge and expertise with Megan and to eventually pass the baton to her when I retire,” says the proud mom. “I believe that she’s determined to make a name for herself and I’m happy to help make that happen.”
