A multimillion-dollar producer with two decades of real estate experience, Shelly Walzel has transformed a family business into a leading brokerage. As the broker-owner of Walzel Properties, Walzel helms a team of more than 650 agents throughout the major cities of Texas and prioritizes her role as a mentor.
Working with her husband of over 30 years and her two adult children, Walzel is a model entrepreneur, having joined the real estate industry in search of purpose and autonomy. “I wanted a career that I can wrap around my life instead of the other way around,” she explains, adding that while she’s held multiple careers in the past, none of them brought true fulfillment.
Since earning the Rookie of the Year award in 2001, Walzel has continued to earn accolades for her contribution to real estate, including the Multi-Million Dollar Producer award from 2001 to 2014 and the Investor Mentoring Award from 2001 to 2012. She is the co-author of the bestselling book “Houston Real Estate Investors Dream Team,” and a longtime member of the Think Tank Initiative.
Walzel holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in business marketing. She attributes her success in part to organizational skills she has learned throughout her career and the support from her family, friends, co-workers and industry mentors. “So many people have taken me under their wing during my real estate career and fed me gems of wisdom,” she says.
Walzel supports Junior Achievement, Can You Hear Me Now and the Houston Food Bank. She loves to read, hike, boat and be in the country.
