A pandemic didn’t get in the way of Stacie Amaro and Damian Smith helping clients reach the closing table. It was simply a hurdle they patiently figured out how to jump over.

Both Amaro, senior escrow officer at Riverway Title Group LLC, and her teammate Smith, residential division manager and escrow officer, are native Houstonians with more than two decades of experience assisting clients with their title insurance needs in the Galleria and Greater Houston areas.

During college, Amaro took a summertime job in the title plant of a title company and became fascinated by the research and history involved in the job. As the years passed, she was given opportunities to work in different facets of the industry and forge an exciting career path. “No client is the same; no transaction is the same,” she says. “We are fortunately given the opportunities to grow and learn every day.”

Prior to joining Riverway Title Group, Smith served as escrow officer for the Elite Property Division at Veritas Title Partners, where he successfully managed a high volume of elite clientele in the Houston Area. Well-versed in the most complex real estate transactions, he has an unending desire to exceed clients’ expectations and cultivate business relationships.

“I love the fast pace of the industry,” Smith says. Clients are always impressed with how quickly he responds to emails and phone calls and how efficient he is at closings. In 2020, the team surpassed $2.25 million in title premiums. While the pandemic brought about various challenges, through it all, this team was able to thrive and grow professionally. “I believe communication with customers is most important, as well as access,” Amaro says. “Timeliness of good or bad news is always key.”
