There were a total of 818 active community projects in Houston at the end of 2022 — the most of any metro area in the country. But which builders are responsible for most of the new homes hitting the market?

John Burns Real Estate Consulting surveyed builders throughout the Houston metro area to determine the quantity of each builder’s ongoing community projects. That includes residential areas that are still in development as well as those with new homes or lots on the market.

These builders were the most active in Houston throughout 2022, based on the number of total public and private builder communities with actively-selling homes at the conclusion of the fourth quarter of 2022.

1. Lennar Homes – 54 total projects
2. Perry Homes – 43 total projects
3. CastleRock Communities – 35 projects
4. D.R. Horton – 32 projects
5. K. Hovnanian Homes – 28 projects
6. Dream Finders Homes – 27 projects
7. Meritage Homes – 27 projects
8. Anglia Homes – 25 projects
9. Taylor Morrison Homes – 25 projects
10. Highland Homes – 24 projects
