New-home sales are up month over month, according to the latest New Home Sales Report from HomesUSA CEO Ben Caballero.

Just over 2,000 new homes were sold during the month of May 2023, compared to 1,888 new homes sold during April 2023.

“New home sales set a three-year high in Houston last month and continues to impress, due to builders’ resilience and our robust Houston economy,” Caballero said. “Local builders are benefiting from continued high demand, as evidenced by rising new home prices.”

The three-month moving average for Houston new home prices was $427,000 in May, up from $413,925 in April. Average days on the market also increased from 106.77 days in April to 108.78 days in May.

Active new-home listings also saw a month-over-month increase, with an average of 11,036 active listings throughout May compared to 11,123 in April.
