Pending listings plummeted over 40% year over year during the week ended July 8, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR).
A total of 1,320 listings went under contract during the week, a 40.8% decline from the same week in 2023, when 2,229 listings went under contract. Closings fell by 23.8% year over year, with 1,316 homes sold compared to 1,728 a year prior.
New listings also slowed during the week, with 2,933 properties added to the MLS compared to 2,878. That’s a 1.9% annual increase — a much slimmer margin than seen in previous weeks this year.
However, consumer interest still remains high: listing views on HAR.com rose 48.8% year over year.
