Jordan Ranch community celebrates significant milestone

by Lindsey Wells

More than 1,000 homes have been sold in Jordan Ranch since builders initially launched sales in the community just over five years ago.

The Johnson Development Corp. surpassed this milestone late last year. Over 400 additional homesites were recently released in Jordan Ranch, so sales are expected to continue, according to a press release.

“With our location just a mile south of Interstate 10, there has always been interest in Jordan Ranch,” said Steve Sams, Jordan Ranch’s general manager. “But, we did see an escalation in new home sales in 2020, with sales remaining strong last year as more people started working from home. The opening of the Texas Heritage Parkway in 2021 was another draw.”

Kate and Wayne Huggins purchased their Lennar home in Jordan Ranch last year, becoming buyer No. 1,001. “The amenities are fantastic and there are so many family things to do,” Kate Huggins said in the release. She and Wayne have a daughter in kindergarten and 4-year-old twins.

Approximately 250 people purchased new homes in Jordan Ranch last year.

The community’s current builders include Chesmar Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, J. Patrick Homes, Lennar, Perry Homes and Westin Homes, with homes priced from the $300,000s.

Amenities in Jordan Ranch include a resort-style pool with a lazy river, playgrounds, a clubhouse, fitness center, lighted tennis courts and trails. The community also features 1.5 acres designated for vegetable plots and orchards at the Sunset Farm. Residents can purchase produce each Saturday and participate in a farm club, attend classes and volunteer on the farm.

Jordan Ranch students attend schools in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. A new elementary school will begin construction in 2022 and is expected to open for the 2023-2024 school year, the release said.
