The pace of single-family home sales in Houston ticked higher on a year-over-year basis in September, as did the prices buyers paid.

According to the latest Market Update from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR), single-family home sales rose 1.7% last month, with 6,973 units sold compared to 6,858 last September.

Meanwhile, the median single-family price rose 1.1% year over year from $331,365 to $335,000. The average single-family home price rose 0.3% to $415,435, compared to $414,078 a year earlier.

Months of single-family home inventory climbed to 4.4 months from 3.4 months in September 2023.

“The Houston housing market is demonstrating a healthy balance,” HAR Chair Thomas Mouton said in a press release. “The rise in sales, expansion of inventory and stable prices indicate a market that is adapting to changing economic conditions.”
