Construction on the Grand Parkway continues.

The discussion of the Grand Parkway began back in the 1960’s and is finally making way today, hoping to be completed by late 2015. Through a partnership between landowners, agencies, local governments and the state, a parkway with four lanes that crosses Harris, Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria, and Fort Bend counties has begun construction.

What Are the Goals Behind the Grand Parkway?

  • Provide a transportation system that links highways and interstate to advance economic growth.
  • Be equipped with much-needed hurricane and emergency evacuation routes
  • Provide a safe travel corridor for commuters, thus reducing traffic demand.
  • Connect communities.

What Will the Grand Parkway Do for Your Community?

Once finalized, it will give neighborhoods the possibility of easily accessing schools, businesses, commerce, jobs, parks, and public services.

For example, vice president of Master Planned Communities, Peter Houghton commented, “Bridgeland residents are pleased to see the progress of Segment E and the news of the continued expansion of the Grand Parkway.”

He elaborated, “The corridor through Bridgeland will be a catalyst for additional employment, retail, dining and recreation for the area while also bringing the community within 35 minutes of the Energy Corridor, the new ExxonMobil campus and Bush Intercontinental Airport.”
