Houston was ranked the 17th best place to live in the nation in a new ranking by U.S. News.

Houston ranked highly for its strong job market, as well as its low cost of living. The median home sale price was $190,000, with a median annual salary of $50,830. The high wage growth and low prices of Houston is a rarity amongst the rest of the nation, as they’ve experienced a more affordable market than historically normal levels, according to RealtyTrac’s Home Affordability Index.

Additionally, according to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, Houston residents are some of the happiest in the country. This is a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed, as more than 300,000 people migrated to Houston between 2010 and 2014.
