cyndie-bowman-cb-united-realtors

Cyndie Bowman is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker United in The Woodlands/Conroe area.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
I worked for the City of Conroe as the Projects Coordinator for 22 years. I handled all of our building tenant leases in a 60,000 sq ft building that housed City Hall. The leases also included rooftop antenna space leases.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in San Antonio, Texas on the northwest side of town.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
I love going to baseball games and watching them on television. I also love garage sales … I’m always looking for a great deal!
Playing bingo with friends helps relieve stress and provides a great opportunity to take your mind off of everyday chores and worries.
And, of course, spending time with my granddaughters is on top of the list.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Watch good movies, go to bingo, play cards and/or games with friends and have a glass of wine!

Growing up, what did you want to be?
When I was really young, I was always playing with my “”babies”” … I dreamed of being a great mom! I always wanted three children. As my life progressed, I found that having children would prove difficult for me. I received a wonderful miracle in 1992 when my husband and I were able to adopt a beautiful baby boy … we took him home when he was only 28 hours old!
When I was about 20 years old I became very interested in real estate. Little did I know that I wouldn’t become a realtor until I was in my 50’s … after retiring from the City of Conroe.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Jimmy Stewart! Hands down, my favorite actor of all time. He was always a man of great principles and humor. He lead a very interesting life as a military officer and, when seen on the talk shows of his time, such as “The Tonight Show”, he seemed to be very genuinely kind, intelligent and funny gentleman.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
At home with my family and friends, and the beach!

What do you love most about the industry?
I have the wonderful opportunity to work with fun people everyday…..as most realtors are fun to be around!
I get such great satisfaction out of making people smile and finding that perfect home for a client is very gratifying. Everyday there is something new and exciting to learn or experience. No day is boring!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
Let’s just say that I’m not shy and I love to laugh!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
As an agent, you have such a huge responsibility to your clients to make sure that their contracts are prepared correctly and that their best interests are always your first priority. Before becoming a real estate professional, it seemed that realtors had little to do and the opportunity to make lots of money! I now know that there are so many things that can go wrong that can hurt your clients. There are always deadlines to watch, details to be verified, and new laws to keep up with. Because you often have others’ emotions and finances in your hands, it can be stressful.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
I like to do open houses. I like to keep up with previous co-workers and vendors, as most are also my friends. Friends of friends are great too. Charitable events are a great place to meet new people from other industries.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
I think having a huge circle of friends would top the list.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
I’ll have to say a movie because I haven’t had any time to read lately, despite reading being on my new year’s resolution list! I can’t remember what it was called but it was a foreign film about two young girls that were best friends and ended up in two completely different classes of people … one very poor, one wealthy … based on how small their bound feet were!

What is your favorite restaurant?
Pappadeaux’s Seafood, although I eat Mexican food several times per week!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
How about the entire skyline that I see on my way to Galveston Island!

What kind of car do you drive?
KIA Sorento .. love it! Second one I’ve owned.

Smartphone or Paper?
Smartphone … but I do love my paper too.

What is your favorite city after Houston?
San Antonio because it’s where my family, including three sisters, live.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Don’t think you can do this part time!

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app?
HAR.com

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter?
I’m embarrassed to say that I’m not on Twitter … yet!
