New listings are down again in Houston, according to the Houston Association of REALTORS® Weekly Activity Snapshot for the week ended April 24.
Realtors added 2,865 new properties into the Multiple Listing Service, down from 3,123 during the same time last year. New listings are also down from 2019 (the last “normal” year before the pandemic housing boom).
Pending listings are down 3.8% from a year ago but up 3.2% from the same week in 2019.
Closings hit their 16th consecutive week of year-over-year declines. Just over 1,800 homes sold during the week — a year ago, that figure was 18.6% higher, at 2,229 closings.
However, consumer interest remains on par with 2022 levels: roughly 45,345 prospective buyers attended property showings during the week ended April 24, in line with the same week a year prior.
