Houston home sales jumped 22% year over year last week

Closed home sales surged 21.9% year over year in Houston during the week ended Aug. 5, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR). 

There were 2,355 closings during the week, compared to 1,932 a year ago. 

New listings, meanwhile, jumped 22.2%. Realtors added 3,833 properties to the MLS, up from 3,136 properties during the same week in 2023. Pending listings fell 4.7% to 2,123. 

Listing views on HAR.com climbed 7.3% year over year to 8,841,173, while showings continued to trail 2023 volumes: They were down 6.4% from a year ago, at 38,277.
