Piney Woods lot lease community coming to Crosby

Piney Woods Manufactured Home Community will provide Houston homebuyers with a lot lease option in Crosby.

Residents in Piney Woods will purchase manufactured homes to live in — but they’ll lease the lots their homes sit on.

That creates a much cheaper alternative to homeownership for households who couldn’t afford to purchase a traditional house — about $91 per square foot cheaper on average, given that the typical Houston home costs $183 per square foot, while the El Rancho Model from Affinal Homes, Piney Woods’ partnered retailer, costs only $92 per square foot.

Piney Woods will accept manufactured homes from other builders as well, although they require homes for new residents to be no older than five years with either a front porch or a front-facing window.

“We are committed to providing an affordable homeownership solution for Houstonians struggling with rising housing costs,” Harry Winslow, co-founder of Piney Woods Manufactured Home Community, said in a press release. “At Piney Woods, residents can enjoy the benefits of homeownership associated with buying and maintaining land.”

While residents will be responsible for maintaining their own lawns and gardens, the community will have on-site management and feature amenities including a pool, community center, dog park, playground and green spaces.

Lot lease prices start at $650 per month for 50-foot lots. Prospective residents can apply for lots online.
