West University Place was named the best city to live in, according to a recently published study by 24/7 Wall Street and USAToday. But city officials already knew that tweeting, “Per @USATODAY – West U is the best city in which to live. Now we knew that!”

This wealthy suburb of just 15,000 residents was named No. 1 after examining a variety of factors. 24/7 Wall Street credited West University Place’s median household income of $221,000, which is nearly four times the yearly income of the typical American household. The median home value is also well above the national average at $917,800. Both the median home value and median household income are in the top 10 percent of the country.

With a strong job market, the city’s five-year average unemployment rate is also extremely low at 2.7 percent. Violent crime rate is also very low, just 64 incidents for every 100,000 — making the city’s violent crime rate one of the lowest in the nation.

Residents can also enjoy a wide variety of amenities like bars, restaurants, museums and other entertainment centers at a lower cost. Goods and services cost 5 percent less than the national average.

A few other Texas cities made the list. In third and fourth place, the cities of Dumas and Perryton in the Panhandle rounded out the top five with Mandan, North Dakota nudging out Dumas. The master planned community, Trophy Club, Texas placed No. 17 with Highland Park in Dallas at No. 34.
