One of the many benefits of living just north of Conroe in Montgomery County, is that every day is an opportunity to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle. Lake Conroe and the Sam Houston National Forest are right in the area, and it’s an easy commute to major employment centers around Houston. But at The Woodlands Hills, a 2,000-acre forested master-planned community, residents don’t even have to leave the neighborhood to enjoy its 112 acres of open space, 20 neighborhood parks, a 17-acre Village Park and an activity center with event space and a fitness facility.
Residents can relax and cool off in the leisure pool and lazy river, or work up a sweat in the fitness pool, tennis courts, or one of the many trails for hiking and biking included in the community. When complete, the neighborhood will contain 4,500 new homes. Spacious homesites in a variety of home styles start at $230,000.
Booming for a reason
The Woodlands and Bridgeland are part of the master planned community legacy of The Howard Hughes Corporation. Heath Melton, senior vice president of residential master planned communities for Howard Hughes, said The Woodlands Hills community, just 13 miles from The Woodlands, utilizes the developmental practices and values that have made these two master planned communities huge successes that are known nationally.
A population boom is taking place in the Conroe area, and according to Melton, it’s time to adapt to the growth. “People are moving further north, and The Woodlands Hills is the next step for people,” he said. “It’s an opportunity for people to buy in the same standards as The Woodlands, which is one of the top-selling master-planned communities in the nation and the first of its kind for the area. The Woodlands Hills captures and extends The Woodlands tradition.”
Appreciating nature
The Woodlands Hills community has towering trees and conservation areas, reflecting and highlighting the region’s natural landscapes. Because of this, developers are creating new homes and open spaces in this beautiful location centered around healthy, green living.
“When we talk about community, it’s more than convenient roadways and amazing amenities,” explains Melton. “It’s about developing and providing a place to raise a family and truly shape the way people live. The Woodlands Hills is an ideal, wholesome community in which to evolve, grow and nestle into a new home.”
Health and wellness
There’s no shortage of outdoor activities around The Woodlands Hills community to keep residents in shape. Hiking and biking enthusiasts have access to trails which wind through 112 acres dedicated to green space. To encourage more cycling around the community, plans are underway for additional dedicated bike lanes along major roadways. Melton also mentioned that this is the first development and community in Conroe to offer bike lanes.
For an indoor workout, residents can make use of a fitness facility at the activity center. Showcasing Wellbeats virtual fitness training, residents can choose from hundreds of classes ranging from boot camp workouts to Jazzercize.
Within a 12-mile radius, several physicians and dentists, provide a variety of healthcare for all. Retail stores and drugstores like Walgreens, Walmart Supercenter, Kroger and Target are within a short drive, as is Texas ENT Specialists-Conroe.
Entertainment
Communities are more than collections of houses. That’s one reason The Woodlands Hills is built around a community hub with a 10,600-square-foot activity and event center and fitness facility. “We are extremely proud of The Woodlands Hills and the high standard it sets for a wholesome community,” said Melton. “Well-respected homebuilders and the natural elements come together to offer residents an exceptional lifestyle to enjoy, including the premier amenities offered at our event-friendly activity center.”
The activity center showcases a 5,500-square-foot indoor/outdoor event space that can accommodate over 300 guests. The living room area is expanded through an overhead bi-fold door that lifts, creating outdoor entertainment space. The activity center also includes an interior demonstration kitchen complete with a refrigerator, freezer, ice maker and an easy access window to serve people outside.
Just outside the activity center, residents can enjoy a zero-entry, resort-style pool highlighting deep-end jumping boulders, a climbing wall, sunning decks and shade structures over portions of the pool and cabanas. A dedicated fitness pool with lap lanes is also available for residents’ use. An expansive event lawn, fitness lawn ideal for yoga, tennis courts, a dog park and a pavilion can be discovered within Founders Park.
Residents can catch a movie at The Grand Conroe, less than three miles from their new home. The Conroe Aquatic Center and several art galleries are also nearby for fun and entertainment. Within a five-mile radius, almost every shopping opportunity is available, from in-line retail to grocery stores.
All ages
The community features a large playground for children to run free and use their imagination. For the fur babies, there’s a fenced dog park with tons of green space for fetching, and plenty of trees for shade.
Elementary and middle school students living in this community attend Meador Elementary and Brabham Middle, both located adjacent to The Woodlands Hills. A connector pathway from one of the neighborhood parks links the community to the north side of the two schools to ensure a safe walk to and from school for children. Willis High School is located just east of I-45 on FM 830, a few minutes away from the community.
Planting roots
Homebuilders such as Century Communities, Chesmar Homes, Gehan Homes, Highland Homes, K. Hovnanian Homes, Ravenna Homes and Westin Homes have contributed to the mix of homes found in the community. Currently, there are seven model homes available for touring.
All new homes are designed for modern convenience with open layouts, spacious living areas and private master suites. As a master-planned community, The Woodlands Hills will continue to evolve. However, Melton said full build-out of the community will likely not take place for another 10-15 years. “We’re only in our second year of sales and there’s already so much activity,” Melton said. “We expect the excitement and eagerness to continue to grow as we progress.”
