Johnson Development’s “Best of the ‘Burbs” home tour continues into May

by Alsha Khan

Johnson Development has extended its annual “Best of the ‘Burbs” home tour by a second month to meet the high interest in new homes and maintain social distancing, according to a press release.

Thirteen communities are participating in the tour, with home prices ranging from the $200,000s to more than $1 million.

Over 120 new model homes will be open to potential homebuyers across the Houston region from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free, and the homes can also be toured virtually on the tour’s website

There would also usually be 500 available homes to tour in the spring, but homes are selling at lightning speed and inventory remains low. Thus, participants are only able to tour 200 available homes this year, according to Christen Johnson, senior vice president of marketing for Johnson Development.

The developer is also giving out scratch-off tickets to incentivize home tourists to tour more homes, with one registration per model per family each day.

“We’ve added in this second month because interest in new homes is so strong right now,” Johnson said in the release. “New-home sales are up 66.8% nationwide, and we’re certainly seeing similar demand at our communities. Having the home tour open two months accommodates social distancing and gives prospective buyers the opportunity to meet with a sales representative one-on-one.”
