The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) honored three winners of the Fair Housing Champion Awards during its annual Fair Housing Month event. Among the honorees was Shadrick Bogany, a broker associate with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene.

“NAR’s mission to promote the growth of prosperous, diverse and inclusive communities across the United State is more resilient than ever,” NAR President Kevin Sears said in a press release. “Affordability and fair housing remain the most significant challenges confronting the real estate industry today, and I am immensely proud of the dedication displayed by our award recipients in expanding access to homeownership. Their leadership has paved the way for positive change, inspiring others to join in our collective efforts.”

A former chair of the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR), Bogany currently serves as chair of the association’s Governmental Affairs and MLS advisory groups. He advocates for homeownership as a means of empowerment, propelled by his upbringing in subsidized housing. He’s also the host of a long-running Houston radio show, The Real Estate Corner, which educates consumers about homeownership and available resources.

“Shad’s unwavering commitment to fair housing has made a profound impact on our community,” said HAR President and CEO Bob Hale. “We are incredibly proud of his dedication to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to achieve the American dream of homeownership.”

Bogany, along with the other award recipients, received $5,000 to dedicate to a housing-related nonprofit of his choice. He selected Covenant Community Capital, an organization that provides financial education, coaching and no-interest loans for affordable housing.

Other 2024 winners were Eve B. Lee, a founding chair of Community Partners for Affordable Housing in Lake County, Illinois, and Paul Yorkis, president of the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®.
