The work-from-home revolution and pandemic shakeups made relocation a popular choice in 2022. Residential real estate platform Opendoor determined that the Houston suburbs of Katy and Cypress were two of the cities that heated up the most last year.
Using data from their listing service, Opendoor calculated the top 20 ZIP codes in the country. The Katy ZIP code of 77494 ranked third on Opendoor’s list, up from No. 7 last year, while the Cypress ZIP code of 77433 ranked seventh. The San Antonio ZIP code of 78253 ranked at No. 11, while the ZIP codes of 78130 and 78641 in the San Antonio suburbs of New Braunfels and Leander came in at No. 4 and No. 9, respectively.
“These rising neighborhoods have a common thread: a small town feel while close to a bustling downtown for entertainment, dining and shopping,” Opendoor’s report reads. “We are seeing homeowners vie for that sense of belonging in cities and towns accessible to major metros via short commutes…but aren’t too removed and have their own downtown or community.”
The No. 1 city on Opendoor’s list of the hottest markets in 2022 was Clarksville, TN, which is known for its affordability despite close proximity to Nashville.
