Thomas Gallagher posthumously recognized as 2022 Houston Realtor of the year

by Emily Marek

Houston Realtor Thomas Gallagher was posthumously selected as the 2022 Realtor of the Year at the Houston Association of REALTORS® annual awards ceremony last month.

Gallagher died unexpectedly at the age of 67 last May.

“Tom was a man with a heart of gold,” HAR Chair Cathy Treviño said when presenting Gallagher’s award. “Everything Tom did was done with love and passion.”

A Realtor for 22 years, Gallagher previously served as a member of HAR’s Global Advisory Group, Technology Advisory Group, Professional Development Advisory Group, REALTOR® Expo Advisory Group and Big E Advisory Group. He also served as chair of the Lake Houston Area Networking Group and sat on the board of trustees for TREPAC.

Just one day before his death, Gallagher had filed to run for the 2023 HAR Board of Directors.

“Tom would have been humbled that HAR thought that much of him,” said his wife of 43 years, Beverly Gallagher. “He felt that the Realtors that were part of HAR were the cream of the crop.”

In addition to his commitments with HAR, he also served as the president of the WCR Lake Houston Chapter and as a director for Texas REALTORS®. An alumnus of the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program, Gallagher was inducted into the RPAC Hall of Fame in 2022.
