The average listing price (ALP) for a Houston home rose 1.5% in April, according to the Houston Association of REALTORS® FRESH Report.
“The average list price for a Houston home remains above 2022 levels and is edging closer to the record-setting price of $441,303 from May of 2022,” HAR’s report said.
The average listing price in April was $431,684, compared to $425,382 a year earlier. It was also up 33.9% from April 2019 (the last year before the pandemic housing boom), when the average home went for $322,327.
HAR also found that while new listings are down year over year, active listings have risen by over 60%. There were 19,384 active listings in April, up from 11,912 a year ago.
Realtors entered 11,355 new listings into the Multiple Listing Service during the month, which was down 8.4% year over year. New listings were also higher in 2019, when 13,434 new properties were added.
