HAR: New listings rise despite snowfall

by Emily Marek

New listings increased 6.5% year over year amid historic snowfall in the Houston area, according to the latest Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR).

Realtors added 2,709 properties to the MLS during the week ended Jan. 27, up from 2,543 new listings during the same week in 2024. While that’s not as big a year-over-year bump as in the previous two weeks, it’s still an increase over year-ago volumes.

Pending and closed listings dropped during the week, however. Pending listings fell 12.9%, with 1,742 properties going under contract, while closings decreased 15.1%, with 1,058 homes sold.

Cold winter weather evidently allowed would-be homebuyers plenty of time to browse listings online though, with listing views on HAR.com jumping 36.4% year over year.
