Houston’s Weekly Activity Snapshot: Listings outdo last year’s numbers while closings drag

by Elizabeth Kanzeg

As spring approaches, the number of new property listings continues to surpass those of 2024, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR).

Agents added 3,983 properties to the MLS during the week ended March 3 compared to 3,219 during the same week last year, marking a 23.7% increase.

Closings, however, remained lower this year for the third consecutive week, declining 5.7% year over year. Consumer traffic at property showings also dragged behind 2024 levels, dipping 5.6%. HAR.com reported that listing viewings remained high, with just under 12 million viewings.
