The first half of 2025 brought a wave of moving activity across the nation. A new report from U-Haul identified the most common states of origin for do-it-yourself movers who relocated to Houston.

Topping the list were Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, California and Oklahoma, followed by Colorado, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arizona and Alabama.

U-Haul identified New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Atlanta; Miami; and Oklahoma City as the top cities of origin for new Houstonians.

The main feeders within the state of Texas were Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Brownsville and Beaumont.
