Seller activity increases in Houston, but pending and closed sales continue downward trajectory

Seller activity ticked up in Houston during the week ended Sept. 17 as 3,671 properties were added to the MLS, a 2.4% annual increase, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Both pending and closed sales saw double-digit declines, however. Pending sales dropped 16.7% year over year, with 1,829 listings going under contract, while closings decreased 17.9%, with 1,457 sales during the week.

Traffic at showings and open houses and listing views on HAR.com also fell annually, indicating a dip in potential buyers. Showings and open houses receded 1.3% year over year and 4.2% year over year, respectively, while HAR.com views decreased 9.7%.
