1st Choice Development will incorporate the Panasonic Eco Systems North America OASYS whole-home air quality solution into two projects near downtown Houston.
The new developer, founded by registered ICU nurse Byron Holman, entered into a strategic builder partnership with Panasonic and will feature the company’s integrated ventilation, filtration, humidity management and energy-efficiency systems in its first developments: a single-family home at 4920 Keeland St. and a duplex at 203 E. 43rd St.
“As an ICU nurse, I have seen how strongly a person’s environment can affect their health, comfort and recovery,” Holman said in a press release. “Our goal is to make healthier, higher-performing homes more accessible to everyday homeowners and not reserve those benefits only for luxury construction. A home should look good and provide a healthier environment for the people living inside it.”
The OASYS system will specifically combat challenges brought on by Houston’s year-round humid climate, like increased moisture, seasonal allergens and ozone levels.
“Homebuyers are placing greater value on the quality of the air inside their homes, and builders are responding,” said Bill Myers, group manager of technical sales for PESNA. “Byron brings a unique perspective from healthcare, where indoor air quality is fundamental to patient wellbeing. Together, we’re showing that healthier indoor environments can become a standard feature of new-home construction.”
