What was your first job in the realty industry?
I was a part-time agent from 1989 to 1990.

Where did you grow up?
I’m a fifth-generation Houstonian.

What is your favorite free-time activity?

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I like to go fishing.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
A music teacher.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Steven Hawkings. I’m really a science geek at heart.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?

What do you love most about the industry?
Working at my own pace and schedule.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
Being a native of the city, and an agent for more than 20 years, I’m very familiar with the past trends and growth potential of the many different areas.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Being at the mercy of some third parties (mostly lending underwriters) that don’t seem to care about contract deadlines and that fact that I’m dealing with real human beings that are usually stressed to the max.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
Most of my business is repeat and referral from past clients.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
That I’ve made it so long in a business that has a very high dropout rate.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
I liked “Lincoln” a lot, and I’m looking forward to “Gravity”. The last book that I read, and loved, was the latest in Steven King’s gunslinger series. It’s sort of a sci-fi medieval western.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Lupita’s Chapultepec. It’s a hole in the wall Tex Mex restaurant that I’ve been going to since 1976.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
The Esperson building.

What kind of car do you drive?
Mercedes-Benz GLK350.

What is your favorite city after Houston?
Sydney, Australia.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Listings are king.
