Houston area listings, closings and showings declined double-digit percentage points during the last week of January compared to the same week in 2021, the Houston Association of REALTORS® reported.

HAR’s weekly activity snapshot showed a general decline in market activity both year over year and from week to week. The 2022 numbers cover Jan. 25-31.

New listings were down 27.5% from 2,631 last year to 1,908 during the week that ended Monday. Pending listings dropped 17.4%, and off-market listings were down 35.8%.

Closings dropped 10% during the same week year over year, from 2,111 to 1,899. Traffic at Houston area showings was down 12.3%.

Listings and showings declined from the third week of January to the fourth. Closings showed a modest gain week over week, although they remained behind last year’s pace.
