The Pearland community of Sierra Vista broke ground on its latest project, Island Amenity Village, which will include a new amenity not yet seen in the Houston residential market: a heated lazy river.

Anchored on one end to a white sand beach, the lazy river will span 709 linear feet alongside a pedestrian trail system. “A heated lazy river is a unique feature and will allow for extended use beyond the typical swim season,” said John Brian, regional president of Starwood land development. “The free-form lazy river provides a fun place for residents to relax and enjoy time with family members while riding the river’s gentle current.”

Sierra Vista’s Island Amenity Village is located in the heart of the community along the Highway 288 corridor. In addition to the lazy river, it will include a pavilion, splash pad, clubhouse and tennis, basketball, bocce ball and pickleball courts. The village is expected to open to residents at the end of 2024.
