New, pending listings rise in Houston

by Emily Marek

Both new and pending listings rose in Houston during the week ended Oct. 2, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Realtors added 2,834 properties to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) during the week, a 4.1% increase over the volume added during the same week in 2022. New listings were also 7.8% higher than they were during the same week in 2019, prior to the pandemic.

Pending listings also saw a 0.7% increase during the week, with 1,908 properties going under contract. This is a potential indicator of a positive sales swing in the coming weeks and months.

Closings fell 8.4% year over year, with 2,150 homes sold compared to 2,346 a year prior.

Yet again, consumer interest in 2023 towers over that of 2022. Property showings and listing views on HAR.com were up 4.6% and 14.4%, respectively.
