Every week, we ask a Houston real estate professional for their thoughts on the top three stories from the week before. This week, we spoke with Billy Bishop, a Realtor at Bernstein Realty.
Houston Agent (HA): What is it about Houston that makes you think the local market has a strong future?
Billy Bishop (BB): With low interest rates, low inventory and thousands of people moving to Houston everyday, I can only suspect that the housing market will remain strong for the time being.
HA: Construction has been a bit slow in Houston this past year. Has this affected your business at all, and do you expect building to pick up in 2015?
BB: More and more custom and production builders are taking advantage of the influx of people moving to Houston. You can see from the many master planned communities popping up all over Katy, Cypress, Tomball, The Woodlands, etc.
HA: In an increasingly competitive Houston market, what advice would you give to young agents coming in who want to make this a long-term career?
BB: 3 rules: 1. Tell everyone you know that you know or meet that you’re a Realtor. 2. Never stop prospecting. 3. If all else fails, there is always another buyer to buy or seller to sell.
