Jessica Holcomb
Broker/Owner
White Glove Realty
Ernest Hemingway once said, “I have learned a great deal from listening.” The same is true of Jessica Holcomb, broker/owner of White Glove Realty, which she just opened in September with six agents and two assistants. Not only has she mastered the art of listening as a student of some the country’s most skilled sales trainers and motivators, but also she relies on that ability to intuit clients’ needs and wants. “I’ve had more than one client ask me, ‘How did you know I was thinking that?’” she laughs. “But I pay careful attention because my team and I truly care about our clients and want them to have a great experience with us.”
It seems that Holcomb was destined for real estate even as an adolescent. She recalls telling her parents that she wanted to be a Realtor at age 12, and made good on that decision when she began selling new homes at age 20. “I knew there was no going back because I loved it,” she remembers. Her resolve was strengthened when she sold her first home on her third day on the job, so she diligently refined her skills through intensive training. “I obtained my brokers license after completing more than 900 hours of schooling, and that was while still leading a full-time career in the industry; so, I feel like it’s the equivalent of having a degree in real estate!” As evidence of her commitment to continuing education, Holcomb holds designations as a Certified Distressed Property Expert and Residential Construction Certified professional. She is also a member of the National Association of Realtors and Texas Association of Realtors.
While she launched her career 16 years ago, Holcomb still draws on the strategies she learned at the start of her profession. In particular, she views each property that White Glove is retained to sell as what she calls an “inventory home” and considers each owner as her personal manager. “When I worked in new construction, my manager would ask every day, ‘What have you done today to sell a home?’” she explains. “I didn’t have the luxury of selling any home in the city; I had to sell that one inventory home. The experience of selling limited inventory has given me the talent to truly customize a marketing plan for each listing.” And while she commonly serves motivated sellers, Holcomb also supports buyers as well as oversees investment, lease and commercial transactions. And to top it all off, White Glove’s clients and referral sources all receive a homemade pie as a gesture of appreciation. “They end up getting addicted and want to buy them, but we always remind them to just refer us a client, and we will deliver another homemade pie!” Holcomb says with a chuckle.
“White Glove is about getting back to basics,” Holcomb makes clear, pointing out that she understands the emotional rollercoaster that buyers and sellers frequently ride and her penchant for assuaging their nerves. The honors she has amassed over nearly two decades, including recognition in Houston Realtor as a “Top 20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate” and distinction as a multi-million dollar producer, are as numerous as they are impressive. In addition, HGTV featured her in its “Half-Price Paradise” show earlier this year to showcase Houston’s affordability and charm. But while accolades are nice, they are not what inspire Holcomb the most. “I honestly want to help people,” she says. “The fact that I’m able to do so while enjoying a career that I love so much makes me feel like I’ve never worked a day in my life!”
