Belinda Large
Residential Loan Officer
Republic State Mortgage

Belinda Large, residential loan officer at Republic State Mortgage, lives by the motto, “To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity,” a quote from late English author Douglas Adams. This dedication to the motto can be seen in her client testimonials – clients often note her personable nature, first-class service and extensive knowledge of real estate. “In 2017, I spent a good deal of time putting together and perfecting my support team,” she said. “They are my business family and are the heart of my business. I don’t grow or succeed without them.”

Large, who has worked in the lending industry for more than 30 years, works with clients ranging from first-time buyers to luxury buyers. “Although I’m not an attorney or CPA, I love to strategize with my clients finding the best mortgage that fits their specific goals,” she said. “Smart investing and wealth building are my targets!” For the past decade, she’s been recognized as a Top Mortgage Professional in Texas by Texas Monthly Magazine. Every year since 2015, she’s earned Texas Monthly magazine’s Five Star Professional award.

Large grew up in Houston in the Westbury neighborhood, a budding new community at the time. Her first job after graduating from University of Houston with a degree in economics was at University Savings and Loans, where she later became a vice president. Large left in 1977 after having her first child – and went on to manage her own retail store for seven years in the Rice University Village. “We sold women’s better sportswear. It was great fun until it wasn’t anymore. Retail is hard!” she says.

After selling her retail store, a former banking partner reached out to Large, asking if she’d be interested in returning to the banking industry. “My children were in school and I was bored at home so I heartily accepted the job,” she says. “That was 30-plus years ago, and I’m back where I belong.”

Large is a proud member of several real estate organizations, including the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. She has also volunteered with the Museum of Natural Science and the Junior Forum.

In her spare time, Large is a marathon runner and has completed 15 marathons. “My son is trying to get me to train with him for the 2019 Houston Half Marathon. That’s in my future,” she says. Family is what matters most to Large. “My children are grown and thriving,” she says. “And as a daughter, my proudest moments come daily because my 93-year-old mom lives with me and my husband.”
