A career in real estate wasn’t on Brian Spitz’s radar when he graduated with a degree in psychology from Emory University. Instead, he planned to attend law school, but that changed once his father, who worked in real estate, introduced him to a course about buying properties directly from sellers. “I didn’t think I’d be successful in this business right away, but I ended up closing a transaction within seven weeks, at the age of 22,” says Spitz, president and CEO of Big State Home Buyers.
He and his team work with buyers, sellers and property investors. “We will make fast and fair offers on a home and provide the seller with a range of options to meet their needs.”
Spitz has worked in the industry for 15 years, so he’s learned how to navigate the ups and downs of the market. “It has given me an excellent understanding about where the real estate market has been and it lets me better predict where the marketing is going,” he says.
Winner of the Better Business Bureau Award of Distinction and Pinnacle Award for Excellence from 2012 to 2017, Big State Home Buyers makes the process simple for clients. “A critical factor in this process is getting to the heart of why people buy and sell their homes and identifying what is at the core of their need to make that life change,” Spitz says.
“With this knowledge, we’re able to predict obstacles that the client is likely to face before they even get to that step and be solutions-oriented.” Through Big State Home Buyers’ sister company, Woodway Realty, Spitz is a member of the Greater Houston Builders Association, the Entrepreneurs Organization and the Houston Association of Realtors. He also volunteers with and contributes to The Fay School and Houston Ballet Academy.
