Real estate runs in her family, but loan officer Chelsea Dawson is no nepo baby. Over the last 10 years, the daughter of mortgage lender Holly Whitney has built her reputation on a foundation of her economics education from Texas A&M and an early career in investment banking. She has been recognized by Southeast Texas Housing and Texas State Affordable Housing as a top lender in the state.
A specialist in first-time homebuyer and Texas downpayment assistance programs, Dawson has helped clients secure nearly $1,000,000 in downpayment assistance funds, helping many achieve homeownership who never thought it possible. She recently became licensed in Colorado, where she has a second home, and has expanded her reach to the Rocky Mountains.
Focusing on client priorities is central to Dawson’s success. “Whether it is it finding the lowest interest rate possible, bringing the least amount of money to closing, having the lowest monthly payment or the quickest closing, I will make it happen,” she says. She also cites her ability to serve multiple markets, noting how other mortgage originators have had to exit the business in the last few years. “Only the best of the best have survived,” she says.
When she isn’t cooking up mortgages, Dawson leads a Humble Rodeo Cookoff team, an event that raises over $100,000 annually for Humble ISD. She also serves on the PTA board at her daughter’s school, continuing to make an impact in the lives of homebuyers and the community alike.
