Woodforest won top honors in two categories for its 2010 American Dream Showcase of Homes in the Greater Houston Builders Association Houston’s Best Awards held September 17.

The new development, which officially opened in May 2009, won Best Event of the Year — Developer for its 2010 American Dream Showcase of Homes grand opening celebration. Held in April, the event attracted more than 4,100 people and spurred a jump in home sales. Woodforest also won Best Radio of the Year — Developer for its radio ad promoting the event.

“The showcase was our first big event and we were thrilled with the response and now the recognition for our efforts,” says Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest. “It’s the first of what we hope will be many great events.”

Up next for Woodforest is the Pumpkin Patch & Parade of Homes, slated for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 16 and 17. Activities include a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, games, concessions, fun for the kids and hay ride tours of models and available homes.

The Houston’s Best Awards recognizes excellence and superior achievement in the home business industry, with awards given to the best people, products and promotions in the greater Houston area.
