The current technological landscape allows for seemingly limitless creativity when it comes to agent marketing efforts, and Cody Phillips of Prudential Gary Greene has surely offered one of the most interesting (and fun) videos of 2012.

Shot and edited in the style of classic ’60s spy thrillers, a la James Bond, John Le Carre and “Our Man Flint,” with bright colors, jagged fonts and accented brass arrangements to boot, the video proclaims that “There is only one man for the job” when it comes to selling real estate in the Midtown/Montrose neighborhoods of Houston – and that man is Phillips.

Phillips said the idea for the video “just came to him.” He was taking a real estate course by Brian Buffini of Buffini & Company, and Buffini mentioned how incredibly fast technology was moving through real estate. Upon hearing that, Phillips began considering how he could use that technology to differentiate himself from the field.

“I’m trying to do something that’s different from the others,” Phillips said. “I want to be the guy to sell real estate in the Inner Loop.”

The style for the video, Phillips explained, is intended to match the vibrancy and energy of the Inner Loop area while introducing his qualities and characteristics to prospective clients.

He has also begun shooting and editing videos for his clients’ listings, and he said those videos will adapt to the traits of the clients’ respective markets; so, a video for a property in the Woodlands, for instance, will differ substantially from one featuring a Montrose residence.

The video just launched this week, but Phillips said it has already getting reactions, especially from his fellow agents at Gary Greene.

“They’re picking my brains now for ideas,” Phillips said.
