What began with simple concrete swimming pools in the first master-planned communities of Houston has turned into an amenities arm race amongst developers looking to attract new residence.

Today, communities are expected to feature on-site cafes, stocked fishing ponds, bike rentals, twisting water slides, splash pads and more. So it should come as no surprise that Johnson Development Corp debuted its latest kids’ amenity recently in Riverstone, a fast-growing master-planned community in Sugar Land.

The Big Adventure Park may look like your average playground, but it packs a ton of fun and unique “wow” factors for children, such as 10 handcrafted benches from peacon trees, an 8 ft. tall climbing pyramid made entirely out of logs and a 100 ft. long zipline that allows children to stand or sit on a swing and zip across the park.

More than 800 residents showed up for the park’s grand opening earlier this year, said Trey Reichert, Riverstone’s Vice President and General Manager.
