Houston-based developer Land Tejas just acquired a 646-acre tract of land in northwest Harris County for its new master-planned community, Cypress Green, according to a press release.
The new development (located on FM 2920 between Highway 290 and Highway 249 in Hockley) will add about 2,300 homes to the more than 25,000 homesites the firm has already developed across the city. Home sales are expected to begin in 2022, with some properties slated for delivery the same year.
Cypress Green will include a variety of homes ranging from 40- to 55-foot homesites. Building and pricing of the Cypress community have not been announced.
“We are very excited to continue growing our portfolio of outstanding master-planned communities in the Greater Houston area with the addition of Cypress Green,” said Land Tejas COO James Henrie said. “This community will be developed with the same innovative approach as our other Land Tejas projects.”
Land Tejas purchased the tract from McAlister Opportunity Funds, and CBA Land Capital LP provided investment equity. Doman Real Estate Partners provided financing for the acquisition and development of the land.
The developer is expected to launch two other new communities this year — Sunterra in Katy and Marvida in Cypress. This will bring Land Tejas’ active community total to 12, including Balmoral, the second top-selling community in Texas.
Balmoral was the first Texas community to debut the two-acre Crystal Lagoons amenity as part of its eight-acre Amenity Village. The village was named Best Community Amenity at the 2020 Texas Association of Builders Texas Star Awards.
